Tips & strategy for Odd One Out

Odd One Out is a test of careful looking: one symbol in the grid is different, and you have to find it before the timer runs out. Grids grow and time shrinks every level, so a good search method matters more than fast eyes.

  • Scan in a set pattern – left to right, row by row – instead of darting around the grid. A methodical search does not miss squares.
  • Relax your focus and look at the whole grid for a moment. The odd symbol often "pops out" when you stop staring at single squares.
  • Check differences in colour, rotation and size, not just shape. The odd one can be a mirror image or a slightly different shade.
  • On large grids, scan in blocks of four rows at a time.
  • If you lose your place, start the scan again from the top-left rather than guessing.

Who it suits: Ages 4 and up. A calm, focused game that builds attention to detail.
