Privacy Policy

The short version. You do not need an account to play. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we never see your card number. The only personal detail we ever ask for is an email address, and only if you buy an app — so you can download it again later.

1. Who is responsible

Nerdania.com is run by CodeLuma Development, Nova Scotia, Canada. For any privacy question, email mike@codeluma.ca.

2. Playing a game

Playing requires no account, no name and no email address. Your level progress and best scores are kept in your browser's own storage on your device, not on our servers, and we cannot read them.

When you start a game we record an anonymous play so we can show counts like "1,200 plays". To count a person only once we store a one-way hash of a random identifier generated in your browser. It is not linked to your name, email or IP address, and it cannot be reversed.

3. Visitor statistics

We keep basic statistics so we know which games people enjoy: the page visited, the approximate country, region and city, the type of device (phone, tablet or desktop), and the site that linked you here.

The location is worked out from your IP address using a local database. We do not store your IP address. It is converted to a country and then discarded, and the visit is recorded against a salted one-way hash that changes every day, so visits cannot be followed from one day to the next or traced back to you.

We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, fingerprinting, or any third-party tracking.

4. Buying an app

If you buy an Android or web app we ask for your email address, and we store it along with which app you bought, the amount, the date, and a one-way hash of your licence key. The email is used to prove the purchase is yours when you re-download. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not share it.

Payments are processed by Square. Your card details are entered into a secure field hosted by Square and go straight to them — they never pass through, and are never stored on, Nerdania's servers. We receive only a confirmation, a payment reference and a receipt link. Square acts as its own data controller for that payment.

5. Cookies and storage

We use no advertising or tracking cookies. We use:

Browser local storage — your game progress, scores, sound preference, Calm Mode setting and any licence key you have bought. This stays on your device.
A session cookie — only on the admin pages, only for the site owner, to keep them signed in.

6. How long we keep things

Anonymous play and visit statistics are kept indefinitely because they identify no one. Purchase records are kept for as long as the licence is valid — that is, permanently, since apps are sold as "yours forever" and we need the record to honour re-downloads — and to meet Canadian tax record-keeping requirements.

7. Children

Nerdania is designed for children and families. The games collect no personal information from children: no name, no email, no account, no chat, no photographs, no location beyond an approximate country. Purchases are expected to be made by an adult.

8. Your rights

You can ask us what purchase information we hold about your email address, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it. Email mike@codeluma.ca and we will respond within 30 days. Deleting your purchase record means we can no longer verify your licence for a re-download, so we will tell you before we do it.

Because we do not store IP addresses or any identifier that points to you, we cannot look up or delete anonymous play and visit statistics — there is nothing in them to find.

9. Security

The whole site is served over HTTPS. Licence keys and admin passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Payment credentials are held outside the public web folder and are never sent to a browser.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
